I love a Top Ten list of accomplishments that helps the team reflect back on the year and all the different ways we had an impact on the community. While we produce about 800 HOURS of programming annually, the top-ten list breaks down some of that programming and highlights other work we do in the department.
i.
We kicked the year off with legislative trips to both Lansing and Washington D.C. In Lansing I met with elected officials or their staff to help remind them of what Cable fees provide for the community and the funding at stake. Washington, DC. – Alliance for Community Media pulled initiated a one-day whirlwind of visiting the offices and staff to remind them who we are what legislation impacts our operations.
Township Hall Renovations $375k in renovations, paid for with PEG funding that is set aside for capital expenses related to Cable. New cameras, lighting, microphones, seating for the audience and elected officials…back in the cable building, we have a new switcher. The community will probably notice the more comfortable chairs, but what I really noticed was the update in audio quality. There was a faint buzz in the analogue gear – and now it’s all digital. Let by Operations Manager - Cable, Steve Rota.
